Sheryl Sapriel - Owner and President of The Fabric Stock Exchange has over 3 decades of experience in the Textile and Apparel Industries. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, her career began in 1977 as the Merchandise Manager for the Halston V and VI companies, a division of Manhattan Industries. In 1979 she left the designer Halston to work as the Fabric Buyer at Calvin Klein LTD. She has also freelanced as a Fabric Buyer and Design Assistant for Oleg Cassini.
Her extensive knowledge of the better piece goods market led her to her own business, “SWATCHES”. Swatches developed a new and unique way to sell designer fabrics to better fabric retail stores across the country. While at Swatches, (the first women-owned fabric jobbing company in the country) she designed, converted and imported printed fabrics from Japan. After leaving the New York area, Sheryl created her second company in the Textile Industry, “The Fabric Stock Exchange” in 1987. “The Fabric Stock Exchange” is a worldwide fabric brokering service offering better fabrics to manufacturers, retail stores and designers worldwide.
Over the past several years, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to the creation of TWO on-line companies. “Fabrics On-Line”, created in 1994, was the first electronic marketplace for the buying and selling of fabrics. “Fabrics.com” created in 1999, was the first and ONLY portal site exclusively devoted to textiles and textile related products. Sheryl sold Fabrics.com in 2001 so that she could focus all her energies on building “The Fabric Stock Exchange”.
